Members of MWBA get the benefit of visiting our beeyard. It’s a great way to learn about beekeeping and meet other beekeepers. A perk of being a member is coming out, suiting up, and trying a hand at beekeeping. (We go in groups!) To get on our list, members can fill out this google form: https://goo.gl/forms/LUX38TEGr3Vo4A152 (tip: actually include your email).
In 2023, we got a new record of 600 lbs of honey at the Hunger Task Force Farm. The volunteers took off 24 supers off of 10 ‘production’ hives. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this possible

David Tomfohrde is the MWBA Beeyard Manager at the Hunger Task Force Farm.
In 2022 we moved our awesome beeyard to the Hunger Task Force farm in Franklin. It’s awesome because our bees get to help pollinate the crops that feed greater Milwaukee.

Here’s the setup we had for moving to the Hunger Task Force farm:

Our previous beeyard was in Waukesha and we trived with many visitors (especially on harvest day!)

Visits are at about biweekly and help is appreciated!
In 2018, we had 18 visits of 30+ beekeepers totally over 250 hours at the beeyard. We also had over 400 lbs of honey!
In 2019, we had about the same number of visits with over 450 lbs of honey.
In 2020, there was covid and so we limited visits, bees got sick and got treated – but no honey.
In 2021, I think we got about 159 lbs.
And in 2022, we moved to the Hunter Task Force and in that first year got about 300 lbs.
If interested in having a school or organization group visit, please reach out to Jonathan.
